is it easy?
so is beauty school easier than regular school?
thank you so much now i will know to pay more attention when i go to beauty shool
Hello Marina,
I wish you the best! It is always easier to learn when you love what you are doing. You must first choose your career path and then make the commitment. Good luck in whatever road you choose.
Marina,
In my personal opinion, its is neither easier nor harder, the difference is, If you are going to cosmotology school, then hopfully it is your passion in life, which in turn would make you more hungry to learn, giving you a more enjoyable experience than "regular school". Cosmotology school isn't just a cake walk either, you cram alot of information into almost a year of schooling, that is comparable to having a full time job, hours normally from 8-5, but if you love what your learning it makes going to school much easier, and much more enjoyable.
becoming a true professional is never easy. All careers require life long learning. If your school is teaching you to simply pass a state board exam, maybe it will be easier than others.
Check out serveral schools. Pick the one that is the hardest, the most serious, has advanced classes for grads, teachs MORE than just the state board exam and prepares your for a life-long career.
best wishes..
Hi everyone!
Since most of you took this beauty path as a career i was wondering:it would be weird or awkward to change my profession at 34 ? I wasnt always preocupied with beauty(lack of time I suppose -i work as a n accountant) but little by little i started to be atracted by the "spa world" .
I am fascinated with everything that means relaxation,de-stressing mind&body, any form of feeling good (without the drugs or alcohol). My wonder is: is it necessary to be a "legally blonde " type of girl all of your life , in order to succed in this profession?or, you might have it in you not knowing and suddenly the passion emerges? It might be related to the fact that, as a future landed immigrant I want a job generally acknowledged in all north america (i will arrive in Toronti this year). It might be related also to the fact that I feel the urge of changing my life (the past 10 years has been tremendous stresfull .
I dont think too much about the reason.Ive just woken up one morning knowing this is what I want to do for the rest all my life.
I hope it makes sense.BTW, Im from Romania , so have mercy with my english skills.
Best wishes to you all,
Daniela
I'm new here, but am a former Cosmetologist. I want to get back into the field and am researching schools. I want to go to a quality school that emphasizes professionalism, doing quality work, doing one's best for the career. Quality beauty school graduates get the quality jobs in the field.
Daniela, I'm older than you and I am making a change in my life. You're never too old to achieve your dreams. Go for beauty school and I hope you will be successful!

I am 31 and I am starting cosmetology school in August. I was actually a high school drop out because I got pregnant at a young age but now my kids are in school and older it is time to follow my dreams and make them come true. Good luck to you :)
hello,
i'm 30 years old and also considering becoming a cosmetologist. i do have some problems and i was wondering if you guys can help me out. the thing is i realize that different schools have REALLY different price tags, it ranges from $6000 to $20000. so i was wondering what that means. do you guys think I should take the 20000 one which i think is really expensive or should i take the 6000 one??

Hello Marina,
Define easier? You must read, study and take written exams. You will learn about Infection Control, Bacteria, Decontamination, Anatomy, basics of Chemistry, Body Systems, Professional Image, Properties of Hair, Hair Design, Chemical Texturizing, Haircolor, Haircutting, Consultations, Wets Sets, Braiding, Anatomy of the Skin, Facials, Nail Structure, Manicures, Pedicures, Waxing, Disorders of the Hair, Skin, Scalp and Nails. The first part of your education deals with study which is theory and the second part of your study would be practical work which will be done on your manniquin practicing until you are clinic available for clients. You must fulfill the hours required. I can tell you that if you love what you do you will succeed, however, there is no easy road. It takes work. The work is different than High School because it covers subjects you are in interested in which provides you with information that would benefit you with a career that you enjoy with an income. Hope this helps!
