Professional hair coloring a scam?

Hey hairstylists - I recently read this lady's question on a Q&A forum elsewhere, and I figured maybe you would like to weigh in on it from your professional experience. "I would like to know why is it that when you use a color from a box (Clairol, Loreal,etc...)it asks you to condition w/o shampooing hair, but when you have your hair done by a professional colorist, he/she shampoos the hair after coloring? Is there a difference between the strength of the products or is it just a scam, where the colorist shampoos just to remove some of the coloring so you keep going back more frequently?" So what do you think, hairstylists and hair designers? Does this lady have it all wrong?

All boxes are different, there are some where you just rinse till water runs clear then use conditioner, and other boxes that say to shampoo then use conditioner depends on the company. Biggest problem with box color is that it contains mineral salts, which is not exactly good for the hair.
As far as shampooing after professional use, there is a difference in the products that a professional uses, the texture is thickers , and shampooing is required. As far as removing the color, so that you have to frequently visit the salon that would be a NO!!
